Models and equipment checks

For a motorcycle, separate the original configuration from accessories fitted for a previous rider. Check the seat, luggage mounts, windscreen, grips and instrument controls that are actually present. Model identification helps organise the comparison, but it does not establish the condition of the motorcycle or prove that a listed electronic feature is working.

Model examples

  • BMW Motorrad R 1250 GS
  • BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR

These examples include current and older model names. They are not a coverage list: report availability depends on the individual VIN, model year and market.

What can a VIN tell you about equipment?

A VIN identifies an individual vehicle. Reading the characters alone does not give you a complete list of optional equipment. Use the factory specification to understand the original configuration, then compare it with the vehicle and its documents. Model names and trim badges are not a substitute for this check.

Coverage

Available fields depend on the manufacturer’s record for the specific VIN. Not every report includes every category. A factory package name may also differ between markets.

Factory equipment describes the original configuration. It does not prove that a feature still works or that a car has not been modified. Check the vehicle itself and its service documentation before relying on an advertised feature.
