Record the vehicle configuration precisely
Match the VIN and note the cab, load-bed and powertrain details in the documents. Save the seller’s exact package descriptions. For a task that depends on space or fit, verify the relevant dimensions from applicable documentation and the vehicle itself rather than using a model badge as a shortcut.
Identify each towing-related component
List the fitted attachment, connectors, controls and removable parts mentioned in the advert. Ask whether they are original or later installations. Keep invoices and instructions with the equipment record. A visible hitch or controller does not establish the contents of an entire package or the permitted load for a particular combination.
Keep limits and condition separate
Use the individual vehicle’s documents for loading and towing limits and seek appropriate advice for your intended setup. Inspect accessory condition independently. Record missing keys, fittings or instructions before collection. The original configuration is a useful reference, but cannot certify the safety or suitability of later modifications.
