Record the code accurately
Keep a paint code and its accompanying name together. Do not substitute a colour name from a similar-looking car. If you need the information for repair work, have the relevant details checked for the actual vehicle before materials are selected.
Inspect the present finish separately
Look at the vehicle in suitable light and from more than one angle. Note obvious differences between panels, visible damage or signs of a wrap without jumping to a conclusion about their cause. Photographs can be useful for questions, but lighting and screens affect colour appearance.
Ask about changes
Ask whether the car has been repainted, repaired or wrapped and what documentation is available. An original paint description does not show what work has happened since production. Keep the seller's explanation separate from your observations so you do not accidentally present one as confirmation of the other.
Use professional help for a repair decision
Do not order paint or assess repair quality solely from a factory code and an online photograph. A qualified refinisher can evaluate the present finish and the repair requirements. For a buying comparison, record original colour information, current appearance and any unresolved questions as separate items. This gives you a clearer picture without turning a colour match into a claim about the vehicle's history.
