Start with body style and production details
Match the VIN and note the model and body style shown in the documents. Record any edition or package name exactly. A shared model name does not identify the same seating access, roof arrangement or equipment across generations, so compare the individual vehicles rather than a generic trim summary.
Ask about decorative and interior changes
Photograph roof details, mirror covers, stripes and trim with permission. Ask which were fitted originally and which were added or replaced. Keep invoices or order documents where available. Matching colours or a familiar graphic should not be used as the sole evidence for an edition or complete factory package.
Confirm everyday functions separately
Test ordinary multimedia, seat and parking functions while parked. For an opening roof, follow the relevant instructions and note any concerns for inspection. List keys and loose accessories at handover. An equipment record can explain the original configuration, but it does not prove the originality or present operation of every visible item.
