Start with the cab and drive system
Confirm that the VIN on the vehicle matches the registration document. Write down the model, cab style, engine, gearbox and whether the vehicle has two- or four-wheel drive. Pickups are often sold in several cab and bed variants that look alike in photographs, so ask which document confirms the version described.
Separate work accessories
Note the tow bar, load-bed liner, canopy, roof rails and lighting that come with the vehicle. Ask whether each was fitted at the factory, by a dealer or later by an owner, and request the invoices. Accessories added for work can be useful, but they are not part of the original equipment unless a document says so.
Record use and maintenance
Ask how the vehicle has been used, how heavy the loads and trailers have been, and when the clutch, brakes and suspension were last serviced. Keep missing information as open questions. An equipment list describes the configuration from production; it does not show wear from towing or off-road use, so a qualified inspection is still advisable.
