Identify the vehicle before the package
Match the VIN and record model, body style, powertrain and production details from the paperwork. Save the exact towing or utility claims in the advert. A package name needs a description for the relevant vehicle; another Ford’s brochure is not enough to establish its contents.
Inspect attachments and included parts
Record the tow attachment, electrical connector and any removable components that the seller includes. Ask whether they were factory fitted or installed later, and request the supporting documents. A visible tow attachment does not prove that every component of an advertised towing package is present.
Keep capability figures out of guesswork
Use the vehicle’s applicable documents for limits and permitted combinations, with professional advice where needed. Do not calculate capability from the presence of a hook or the name of an option. Separately check camera displays, accessory operation and installation condition. The equipment record is a configuration reference, not approval for a particular towing task.
