Prepare the list beforehand
Write down the items included in the agreement: keys, removable accessories, charging equipment where relevant and any additional wheel set. Include only what has actually been agreed. An earlier photograph or an original equipment description is not a substitute for a clear handover list.
Check identity and included items
Compare the vehicle's VIN with the documents and your notes. Then check the physical items one by one. Identify loose accessories so you do not take an unrelated item or leave behind something that belongs with the car. Record anything missing or different before treating the handover as complete.
Ask for essential demonstrations
With the car safely parked, ask how to operate unfamiliar everyday functions and where to find the relevant instructions. Focus on access, seat adjustment, lighting and any charging or removable equipment you will need immediately. Do not rush into operating a mechanism you do not understand.
Keep personal accounts separate
Complete the appropriate removal or transfer of connected accounts and digital access. Do not exchange passwords or sign-in codes. Save your equipment checklist alongside the handover paperwork, noting unresolved points explicitly. The checklist records what was received and demonstrated; it should not be presented as a substitute for the separate checks needed on the vehicle's condition or legal paperwork.
