Save the seller’s exact claims
Record the VIN and the model and version shown in the documents. Save the advert, including any named performance package. Ask which entries support the claimed engine, transmission and equipment. A badge, bonnet detail or wheel design can be changed and should not be the only evidence used.
Ask about changes since production
Request a list of alterations to exhaust, intake, suspension, wheels and software where relevant. Keep installation invoices and the seller’s account of the work. Do not treat a factory option record as confirmation of a later upgrade or use it to estimate present power output.
Separate equipment from a condition assessment
Photograph the fitted components with permission and note disagreements with the documents. Leave technical questions about modifications to a qualified inspection. Keep original specification, advertised changes and verified current condition in separate notes. This gives you a useful comparison without presenting an unconfirmed performance claim as a factory fact.
