Name each function
Do not compress everything into the phrase electric seats. Record which seat you are checking and which adjustments are available. Memory, heating, ventilation and lumbar adjustment are separate functions; confirm each one that matters to you.
Try your normal driving position
With the vehicle safely parked, adjust the seat and steering wheel to a comfortable position using the car's instructions. Check access to the controls and whether the adjustment range suits you. Keep hands, feet and belongings clear of moving seat mechanisms.
Check the passenger and rear seats separately
Do not assume that every seating position has the same functions. Inspect the controls at the positions you intend to use. If a heating or ventilation function cannot be assessed under the viewing conditions, mark it as untested rather than concluding that it is absent or faulty.
Record what you observed
Ask for a demonstration of memory settings without overwriting the seller's saved positions unnecessarily. Note any movement that stops unexpectedly, damaged controls or messages on the display. An equipment description identifies something to check; it does not establish comfort or mechanical condition. If a seat concern remains, arrange inspection rather than trying to dismantle or repair a mechanism during the viewing.
