Begin with the controls
With the vehicle parked, ask the seller to show you the mirror controls. Check adjustment on each side and make sure you can obtain a useful view from your driving position. Do not assume that a symbol or a shared switch confirms every possible mirror function.
Distinguish separate features
Powered adjustment, powered folding, heating and memory are different capabilities. Record the particular function you have seen rather than using a broad description such as fully electric mirrors. If the equipment wording is unclear, turn it into a specific question.
Avoid forcing a mechanism
Follow the vehicle's instructions for folding and unfolding. Do not push a powered mirror through resistance to find out whether it folds. If a function is unfamiliar, ask for a demonstration or leave it for an inspection. A short viewing may not provide suitable conditions to assess heating or automatic dimming.
Keep both condition and specification
Inspect the glass, housings and visible mountings without disassembling anything. Note damage or uneven movement separately from the equipment description. If a mirror has been replaced, ask whether the replacement retains the functions you need. Your final notes should distinguish what is fitted, what you operated successfully and what still needs checking.
