Begin with the advertised specification
Save the listing and match its VIN to the vehicle documents. Write down the exact version, body style and production information. If an advert names a special edition, ask which document identifies it. Decorative badges, stripes or a similar appearance are not enough to establish an individual car’s original specification.
Separate the exhaust and seats from the badge
For an advertised exhaust or seat upgrade, request the complete equipment description and photographs of the fitted item. Ask whether it was installed during production or later. Keep installation invoices with the original record. A recognisable logo can help identify a component, but does not establish when it was fitted or whether it belongs to the original configuration.
Make a modification checklist
List changes to wheels, suspension, brakes and multimedia separately. Ask whether original parts are included and photograph their condition. Leave undocumented claims unresolved. An equipment list helps organise the configuration; a qualified inspection is needed to assess the condition and suitability of modifications.
